The definition of
narrative text
Narrative text is a text or imaginary story that is used for amuse
or entertain the readers that lead the reader to crisis in the store and
ultimately find a solution.
The structure of the text :
- The Orientation : It is about the opening paragraph where the
characters of the story are introduced in a setting of place and time.
- The Complication : Where the problems in the story developed.
- The Reorientation : Where the problems in the story is solve and
tells the ending of the text/story.
In Narrative text, it used Past Tense as grammar.
Types of narrative text:
- Fable : is a story with a moral in which the characters are animals that behaving like humans. Example : The three little pigs, Ugly Duckling, Bambi, Rabbit and Turtle,etc
- Myth : is a story about superhuman beings of an earlier age taken by preliterature society to be a true account, social customs, come into existence, etc. Example: The Crying Stone.
- Legend : is a story that non-historical or unverifiable story that handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularity accepted as historical. Example: Story of Danau Toba, Malin Kundang, or Tangkuban Perahu, etc.
- Fiction : is a story about human imagination (not their reality), such as novels or short stories Example: Cinderella Story, Harry Potter, Romeo and Juliet, etc.
- Fairy tales : the stories of humans and their dealings with magical or unlogic things such as fairies, dragons, wizards,etc. Example: Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping beauty, Thumbelina, Peterpan, Pinocchio,etc.
The Grammatical
features of narrative texts are :
- Using adjectives to build noun groups to describe the people, animals, or things in the story, such as : ugly duckling, beautiful swan, etc.
- Using time connectives and conjunctions to sequence events through the time, such as : however, then, before, after, soon, etc.
- Using the adverbs and adverbial phrases to locate the particular events, such as: once upon a time, long time ago, one day, In the kingdom, ... etc.
- Using action verbs (verb 2) to indicate the actions,such as: exclaimed, saw, thought, turned, etc.

TIMUN MAS
Jumble Paragraphs :
a. The giant came and asked the widow for Timun Mas. The widow refused to tell him and so he went into the jungle. He angrily called out for Timun Mas.
b. It turned the jungle into a muddy field. The muddy field swallowed the giant and he was never seen again.
c. The old widow planted the seed in her yard. By the
next morning, a cucumber grew.
d. Timun Mas heard his voice and ran away from him.
e. Knowing her wish, a huge giant visited her house. He gave her a cucumber seed. He told the old widow that there will be a a baby inside the cucumber. The giant promised to come back for the baby once she turned sixteen.
f. “You must not let the giant catch you,” the widow cried out as Timun Mas ran into the jungle.
g. Finally, Timun Mas returned home and lived happily ever after with the old widow.
h. Once upon a time, an old widow wanted a daughter to live with her in the village.
i. The giant chased her. Timun Mas threw the salt that
the widow had given her.
j. Day by day, Timun Mas grew into a beautiful lady. The widow remembered what the giant had warned her. So when Timun Mas turned sixteen, the widow told her to run into the jungle with a bag of salt.
11. She cut it open and found a baby girl inside. The old widow was so happy and named the baby Timun Mas
